Choose File > Add Folder… (Shift-Command-O), or drag a music folder into the window. Your files stay where they are: MNEVMO Music only reads them, and the folder is watched, so new files appear by themselves. To play a few files without adding a folder, use File > Open Files… (Command-O) or Open With in the Finder.
MP3, AAC and M4A, Apple Lossless (ALAC), FLAC, WAV and AIFF. macOS itself decodes them. WMA is not supported.
MNEVMO Music is free to download, and everything works for 10 days. The trial starts when you choose Start Free Trial, from the sheet that appears the first time you press Play or from Settings > Purchase. After 10 days, one purchase keeps the music playing for good. There is no subscription and nothing renews. Your folders, playlists and settings stay whether or not you buy.
Bought it on another Mac with the same Apple Account? Choose Restore Purchase in Settings > Purchase.
Does MNEVMO Music work offline?
Yes, completely. Only starting the trial, buying and restoring talk to the App Store, through macOS.
Will it change, move or delete my files?
No. Files are only read. Removing a track or a folder takes it out of MNEVMO Music's list and never touches the file on disk.
How large can my library be?
We test with 100,000 tracks: the list scrolls smoothly and search answers as you type.
My music is on an external drive.
While the drive is away, its tracks stay in the list, dimmed and marked as offline. They come back by themselves when you connect the drive again.
A track says File not found.
The file was moved or deleted outside the folders MNEVMO Music watches. Files renamed or moved inside an added folder are followed automatically. Otherwise add the new folder, or remove the missing tracks from the list.
Is there a larger window?
Yes. The Library window shows the same list in columns, with your sources, playlists and folders on the left. Open it with the button in the playlist bar or Shift-Command-L. It takes the place of the compact player, and the Compact Player button or closing the window brings the player back.
Is there a gap between tracks?
No. The next track is prepared in advance and follows without a gap, so live albums and mixes play as one.
Keyboard shortcuts
Space: play or pause. Return: play the selected track. Left and Right arrows: 5 seconds back or forward, with Shift 30 seconds. Command-Right and Command-Left: next and previous track. Command-Up and Command-Down: volume. Command-F: search, Esc closes it. Command-L: show the current track. Option-Command-L: add it to Favorites. Shift-Command-M: shade mode. Option-Command-E and Option-Command-P: equalizer and playlist. Shift-Command-L: the Library window. The media keys on your keyboard work too.
Which Macs does it run on?
Any Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel. There is no Windows or iPhone version.
